Stéphanie Bénéteau offers a variety of programs and workshops, and can also create a custom program according to your specific needs. She is on the roster of the Culture in the Schools Program, which means schools can get funding to bring her to the school. She also works extensively in underprivileged neighbourhoods as part of the Supporting Montréal Schools Program.
introduction to the art of storytelling
During this practical and hands-on workshop, students discover the art of storytelling through oral interpretation and improvisation based on a traditional story. The exercises are always cooperative and promote creativity and self-esteem.
After having heard a story told to them, the students learn how to retell a story by understanding its inner structure. ln small groups, they develop their story by doing a series of exercises drawn from drama in which they develop characterization, increase their expressive skills and develop poise and confidence. The students present their story to the group and, depending on the time available, go to other classes to tell their story and share the art of storytelling with the whole school.
suggested workshop formats
Depending on a workshop time frame, students can tell before their own group (Beginners workshop) or go on tour in other classes in the school (Full workshop). Time permitting, a storytelling Festival might be organized throughout the school..
